Welcome Sam and Miranda!

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Sam Kavalier, our newest attorney, and Miranda Salazar, our new Law Clerk!

Sam is a recent graduate of University of Wisconsin Law School, and we are thrilled he decided to begin his law career with OG+S. While interviewing Sam, we were particularly impressed with his pre-law school background in the tech industry, as well as his service to the UW Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic. At the clinic Sam provided legal services to start-ups and non-profits while also attending law school. This background demonstrated a consistent track record of problem solving, as well as rapport building with clients. We think this experience will make him an excellent fit for our firm. When Sam is not working, he enjoys biking (his preferred mode of transportation around town), hiking, disc golfing, and generally exploring the outdoors. We can’t wait to hear of more of his adventuring!

As Sam begins with OG+S, he is excited to meet clients and collaborate with them to help accomplish their goals. Be on the lookout for him at a meeting near you!

Miranda Salazar is a 3L at University of Wisconsin Madison Law set to graduate in the Spring of 2022. She is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic as well. At the clinic she helped clients make essential business model and entity selection choices, file copyrights, protect trademarks, and form non-profits. Miranda is hyper-involved in the law school community where she is a Note and Comment Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review, the President of the Women’s Law Student Association and the 3L Student Bar Association Representative. Additionally, in the Fall, Miranda will be serving as a Wisconsin Supreme Court intern in Justice Rebecca Dallet’s chambers.

Miranda hopes to practice in the intellectual property and entertainment law fields —specifically art and copyright law — when she graduates and continue her lifelong connection to the arts. She is an alumna of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where she graduated magna cum laude with dual degrees in Studio Art (with a focus on large scale interactive sculptures and book arts) and Political Science.

In the course of her life Miranda has attended ten schools and lived in six countries (United States, Namibia, Ghana, Portugal, Brazil and briefly Tanzania). She can speak conversational Portuguese, but she’d be more helpful in navigating a high school basketball court and perhaps less so in negotiating a contract. In her free time Miranda enjoys creating online content, traveling, and playing trivia.
