A few weeks ago, we took a motorcycle class. One thing the instructors kept saying was “Keep your heads up! Look forward!” You had to see where you were going, and it helped get over nerves. As one instructor said, “If you only look three feet forward, you will only go three feet forward. If you look up and ahead, look at all the places you could go!” And you know what? It worked. We both passed.
And the next weekend, I fell off a horse, broke my leg, and got crutches. Stairs are hard with crutches. Hard and scary when you can only use one leg. Trust me, that other leg is not getting any weight put on it. Ouch! So stairs are an issue. But guess what, the same advice as the week before worked here, too! Keep your head up and go forward.
You have to place your crutches correctly to get a firm foundation, then look forward. If you look down at the stair (especially if you look down an entire set of stairs), your chances of tumbling down them increase dramatically. But if you keep your head up, you soon conquer the set of stairs ahead of you.
If it works in motorcycles and crutches, I am not going out on much of a limb to submit that it will work in your business, too. If you look just three days in front of you, you may only get through those three days. But if keep your head up and look forward, you can plan your moves and put your short-term issues into perspective. It is important to not psych yourself out and conquer the issue in front of you. Therefore, I say :Keep your heads up! Look forward!”
